Coucou mes amis!
First, three two-sentence adventures:
1. My companion, Sœur Moody did an amazing job singing at a Devotional for the new Senior Missionaries (she sang “Healer” from the 2022 Youth Album). It was so powerful to hear Sœur Moody share her testimony through music.
2. Even though I’m really bad at it, I’ve been playing a lot of volleyball lately! I had never played it before coming to the MTC, so my goal is to just get to the ball in time to hit it.
3. I got to leave the MTC for an afternoon to get fingerprinted again. I already flew to San Francisco to get fingerprints done for my France Visa, but Belgium wanted another background check on top of that.
Second, two two-paragraph adventures:
1. A Sœur in my district, Sœur Hyde, gave a talk to the entire MTC! She spoke at the beginning of something called the “Go and Do” experience. Every Sunday, we go to a short devotional that invites the Spirit and then do an hour and a half of uninterrupted personal study. She gave a talk about a previous Go and Do experience of hers. We all got there extra early to get front row seats, help with sound check, and cheer her on.
My favorite thing that she shared was something along the lines of “I want to help everyone know what their life can look like with the power of the Book of Mormon because there was a time when I didn’t have the influence of the Book of Mormon in my own life.” I’ve also found that my life is better the more I read and follow the teachings of the Book of Mormon. Sœur Hyde, your talk made me so excited to get to France and be able to start teaching others about Christ!
2. My favorite thing that happened this week is that we started a challenge called Speak Your Language (or Parlez Votre Langue in French.) It’s a challenge where missionaries who are learning a new language speak exclusively in that language for the last week of their MTC experience (don’t worry, I can speak English to those who don’t know French, so this email isn’t cheating!)
I’ve loved seeing the efforts of my district. It’s amazing how much of a language you can learn in such a short amount of time—the gift of tongues is real! Throughout these past few days, I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter how much you know; if you’re putting in your best effort, the Lord will magnify your abilities. And this applies to more than learning languages! The Lord really can make more of us than we can make of ourselves. Let the Lord help you out this week, I promise you’ll see miracles!
I love being a missionary, I love and miss all of you, and I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas Season!
À la prochaine !
